In the mid 90’s, on the Southern side of the Gredos mountains, an early 20thC barn, used for drying tobacco and peppers, was restored and converted into an inn or rural hotel, the first of its kind in the province of Avila.
The Posada Rincon de Alardos is on 7 acres of land and from the terrace, shaded by three ancient grape vines, there are views to the fertile Valle de la Vera of the Rio Tietar, and the the Rosarito reservoir.
The Posada, or inn, is surrounded by large oaks and alders. We have a vegetable garden; its produce is included in the menu; an olive grove, from which we obtain the virgin olive oil that we use in our kitchen; a fig plantation of green figs, as well as an orchard of various different fruit trees, all of which are watered from the stream that runs through the land.
